III Edition

The third edition of the “Serata Laudato Si’” was organized jointly with the Franciscan Youth Missions and the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) office of the Friars Minor. The promotion and lived experience of the values of the encyclical Laudato Si’ have strengthened these organizations in a joint effort to organize this new edition of the “Serata Laudato Si’”.

Organization

The Franciscan Youth Missions are an event promoted by the Franciscan Province of the Immaculate Conception of Brazil, aimed at young people who wish to experience an intense time of prayer, reflection, and a mission of solidarity, as well as encounter with various geographical and existential peripheries.

Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) is a department of the Order of Friars Minor committed to ensuring that these values are part of the life and mission of Franciscans. Through their commitment to caring for creation, they promote various initiatives and provide resources for the Franciscan Family, the Church, and civil society.

Today, we are guided by the teachings and challenges of the encyclical Laudato Si’, which serves as a compendium of the values we promote—not only in the environmental sphere, but also through justice and peace as guarantees of a more fraternal world and care for our common home.

The Artists

Xaxim (SC) – The actor, dancer, choreographer, and stage director Ciro Barcelos, nationally and internationally recognized, presents this Thursday, January 30, during the Franciscan Youth Missions, the theatrical performance “Auto of Saint Francis.” In this play, he will revisit and adapt parts of his musical “Francis of Assisi” and the “Eco-Show.” His performance will take place on the gymnasium stage at 6:30 PM. “Francis of Assisi” ran for twelve years in Brazil.

“I believe that the presence of Ciro Barcelos at the Franciscan Youth Missions, in addition to being the highlight of the Serata Laudato Si’, will show young people that it is possible, through different professions and paths, to live and share the Franciscan charism. It will certainly be a beautiful testimony of evangelization carried out with quality and professionalism,” says Fr. Diego, explaining that the actor had the opportunity to learn about the work being done with young people in the Province of the Immaculate Conception. “He said he was amazed by all of this and that being able to present the figure of Saint Francis to all these young people through art would be a great privilege,” Fr. Diego added.

The “Serata Laudato Si’,” referred to above, is a cultural event that promotes the message of the encyclical Laudato Si’, on the care for our Common Home, written by Pope Francis. It will take place for the third time since the publication of the encyclical. The first was in Rome and the second in Panama City. The goal is to raise awareness about the climate crisis through art, culture, and music, as well as to provide a space for ecological conversion in favor of future generations.
