Boquete, Panama (September 16-21, 2024). 6 Franciscan friars from various countries of the Americas (United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Brazil) met in the city of Boquete, Panama, to participate in the VI Continental Meeting on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC).
We conclude Season of Creation 2024 with the Oikos Mediterranean project of the Conference of Provincial Ministers of Italy and Albania, based in the friars’ convent in Taranto, Italy. The OIKOS project was officially born in June 2023.
In the framework of the Centenary of the Stigmata of St. Francis, on Tuesday the 17th September, at the retreat house of the Franciscan Seminary in the city of Boquete, David, Panama, the VI Continental Meeting of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation of the Americas began.
During the Season of Creation 2024 the General Office of JPIC will be sharing various Franciscan experiences in the world on integral ecology. We begin with the Custody of the Holy Land.
On behalf of the JPIC General Office, Br. Taucen Girsang visited the Province of St Francis Herald of Peace in West Papua-Indonesia, from 20-29 April 2024, to listen and to exchange experiences with the friars regarding JPIC activities.
The Secretariat for Mission and Evangelization, Br. Francisco Gómez and Br. Denis Tayo, together with the General Office for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), Br. Daniel Rodríguez Blanco and Br. Taucen Girsang, visited the Franciscan Province of Saint Michael the Archangel of Indonesia during the week of the Octave of Easter from 1-6 April 2024.
On Friday 2nd February in the seminary of St. Saviour in Jerusalem the Custodial Commission of JPIC: fr John Luke Gregory, fr Carlos Gabriel Eduardo Molina and fr Mark Vertido, completed its series of courses given to the friars in the initial stages of formation.
From December 4 to 5, 2023, in the fraternity of Montariol, situated in the city of Braga, Portugal, a meeting of the offices of animation from the four Provinces that make up the (CONFRES) Conference took place. It was organized by the Secretary General for Missions & Evangelization, the Secretary General for Formation & Studies, and the animators of the JPIC offices, in collaboration with the President of the Conference of Spain and Portugal, Br. Joaquín Zurera, and the responsible Definitor General, Br. Cesare Vaiani.
From the 6th to the 11th September, fr. Daniel Rodríguez Blanco, Director of the JPIC Office of the General Curia, visited the Provinces of Santa Fe and San Pablo in Colombia.
