Reflection and prayer in community
On February 10, a gathering of the city’s religious leaders took place for a moment of shared reflection and prayer at the Italian Cultural Center “Casa Italia” in Izmir (Turkey).
The event, which brought together several notable figures, was organized by the Diocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue with the participation of the brothers of the Bornova Fraternity (Izmir).
Among those in attendance were the Consul General of Italy in Izmir, the Archbishop of Izmir, the Anglican Chaplain, the Dede of the Dervishes in Magnesia (Manisa), a delegate from the Izmir Synagogue, the local Mufti, as well as members of various communities, priests, and religious leaders.
The gathering began with a brief conference by one of the friars, accompanied by local musicians who performed meaningful songs in Turkish. Following this, each religious leader shared a spiritual reflection.
Inspired by the words of Pope Francis for the occasion, the event concluded with a prayer for peace and for the victims of war, followed by a brief musical performance.
These gatherings represent a valuable opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding, cultivate new friendships, and open pathways for dialogue in building a more peaceful and tolerant world.
