The current model of extractivism is devastating and destroying our common home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a Franciscan voice at the United Nations (UN), Franciscans International (FI) has worked to promote respect for human rights in all business operations, in particular in the extractive sector. Working closely with Franciscans working in grassroots communities, together we are calling for greater accountability for corporate abuses, including access to justice for victims.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Franciscans International believes that the 2015 Papal Encyclical<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong><em>Laudato Si\u2019<\/em><\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>has provided guidance in bringing the voice of the affected communities to the attention of the international community, in particular the UN.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As Franciscans, today, more than ever, we have the opportunity to think about a possible new world.
