{"id":5542,"date":"2019-12-08T14:50:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-08T14:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ofmjpic.org\/?p=5542"},"modified":"2019-12-11T15:01:18","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T15:01:18","slug":"statement-on-the-situation-in-nicaragua","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/en\/statement-on-the-situation-in-nicaragua\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement on the situation in Nicaragua"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Communiqu\u00e9 of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Conference<\/strong> <strong><em>Mexico,\u00a0Panama, Central\u00a0America\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Caribbean<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We express our regret for the situation that our brothers of Nicaragua\u00a0are currently facing, and\u00a0particularly for\u00a0the youth, laity, religious, religious, priests and bishops of the Church. The persecution, repression, siege and violence they suffer\u00a0are\u00a0our suffering and of God.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also express our solidarity with\u00a0our sister country\u00a0in search of peace and justice. We are with our Nicaraguan brothers in their struggle\u00a0of liberation\u00a0because we believe that God\u00a0walks along with all those who are just, compassionate and peaceful.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thereby, we make\u00a0appeal\u00a0to the government of President Daniel Ortega to establish\u00a0peace and\u00a0the\u00a0good of every one of\u00a0the\u00a0people\u00a0without any discrimination, as\u00a0it\u00a0is the mission of a\u00a0political\u00a0leader. Let repression, impunity, violence cease, freedom, justice, and solidarity come, respect for life dawn,\u00a0and forgiveness and\u00a0open\u00a0dialogue flourish.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We ask the International Community, humanitarian organizations and, above all, the UN to cooperate decisively in the establishment of the peace and democracy of\u00a0Nicaragua\u00a0by the means that correspond to them.\u00a0They are\u00a0the demands made by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights,\u00a0Michele Bachelet in her report on the situation in Nicaragua, as well as in the report of the OAS\u00a0(Organization of American States)\u00a0Special Commission on\u00a0this country<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are in communion with the communiqu\u00e9s of the Latin American Episcopal Conference (CELAM),\u00a0<em>Paz a Nicaragua<\/em>. The\u00a0Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean, A Mission of reconciliation in justice, the Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica\u00a0and Guatemala, have joined their voices to that of the Bishops of Nicaragua expressing their concern about the political crisis in which they are. Together with them, we want to read the signs of the times, through which the God of Love and Peace commits us to each other to work together for the lives of all without exclusion. In the words of Mons. Casald\u00e1liga, it\u2019s a prophecy that pushes us to create another economy that is integral, ecological, intercultural and to be at the service of better life and coexistence in the construction of human fulfillment. We also want to add the Fraternal care of the entire creation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u00a0always pray for\u00a0one another,\u00a0the peoples and their rulers\u00a0and\u00a0particularly\u00a0today\u00a0for Nicaragua.\u00a0While celebrating\u00a0the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of\u00a0St. Mary,\u00a0the\u00a0national patron of all Nicaraguans, we feel the intercession of\u00a0Our Mother\u00a0who carries her children in her arms, and that the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ\u00a0Our\u00a0Lord\u00a0dwells\u00a0in all\u00a0and inspires the\u00a0lasting reconciliation between the rulers and the people.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\">December 8, 2019\u00a0<br>On the\u00a0Solemnity of Immaculate Conception of Mary\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Br.
