You are here representing different cultures, different languages, different situations to dialogue about this essential element of our vocation as Friars Minor the commitment to peace, justice and the integrity of creation.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d These were some of the words in the opening message of Fr. Ignacio Ceja, OFM, Vicar General, to the participants of the International Council for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) gathered in the city of Assisi from the 1st to 7th March, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>The JPIC General Office and its Commitment to Social Justice and Integral Ecology<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the first days, the reports of the JPIC work of the last three years were presented. These presentations highlighted the noble work of many Franciscans around the world, addressing primarily <\/span><b>ecological conversion, climate justice and integral ecology.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In addition, attention to <\/span><b>migrants and refugees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was emphasized, as well as the commitment to <\/span><b>non-violence and peacebuilding.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19272 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/frailes-de-la-oficina-general-de-jpic-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/frailes-de-la-oficina-general-de-jpic-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/frailes-de-la-oficina-general-de-jpic-1280x960.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/frailes-de-la-oficina-general-de-jpic-980x735.jpg 980w, https:\/\/ofmjpic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/frailes-de-la-oficina-general-de-jpic-480x360.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 2560px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reports also highlighted the growth of <\/span><b>social conflicts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>Asia, Africa and Latin America<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with <\/span><b>wars<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>Europe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Middle East.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These scenarios have led to a significant increase in the number of <strong>migrants and refugees<\/strong>, a situation that has been a central focus of the Order&#8217;s work in favour of human rights and the dignity of displaced persons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>An encounter with the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the third day, participants visited the <\/span><b>friary of San Damiano,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the place where St. Francis composed the <\/span><b>Canticle of the Creatures <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 1225. Guided by Br Sisto Russo, OFM, they visited every corner that marked the life of <\/span><b>St. Clare<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>St. Francis of Assisi.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In this framework of profound spirituality, the <\/span><b>Eucharist<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was celebrated presided over by Fr. Cesare Vaiani, General Definitor, in the same chapel that Francis rebuilt with his own hands and in which he experienced the call of the <\/span><b>Crucifix of San Damiano.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Reflection on the Canticle of the Creatures and the communication of the Franciscan mission<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A day earlier, Fr. William Short, OFM, offered a reflection entitled <\/span><b>The Canticle of the Creatures and Integral Ecology,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where he delved into the connection between Franciscan spirituality and environmental sustainability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19266 size-full\" founder of <\/span><b>Cat\u00f3licos\u00a0 en Red<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, highlighted the importance of <\/span><b>digital communication in evangelization <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and in the <\/span><b>promotion of social and ecological causes.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He underlined how <\/span><b>storytelling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be a powerful tool to transmit the impact of our actions in favor of justice and peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>The International JPIC Council: A space for dialogue and commitment<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>International JPIC Council<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is made up of the animator of each of the <\/span><b>thirteen Franciscan Conferences <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the five members of the <\/span><b>JPIC Animation Committee.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This council functions as an <\/span><b>advisory group,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> constituted by the <\/span><b>General Definitory<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the purpose of supporting the <\/span><b>JPIC Office,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>Franciscan Conferences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Order<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the task of <\/span><b>formation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>awareness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>animation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>commitment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the field of <\/span><b>social justice, peace and care for creation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:
