Considering rising temperatures around the globe, we can say the earth has a \u201cfever\u201d, Pope Francis says in his video-message announcing this month\u2019s prayer intention.<\/span><\/p>\n
The earth \u201cis sick\u201d, he continues, \u201cjust like anyone who\u2019s sick\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cBut are we listening to this pain?\u201d he asks. \u201cDo we hear the pain of the millions of victims of environmental catastrophes.”<\/span><\/p>\n
In his message the Holy Father notes that it is the poor who suffer most from these disasters, pointing especially to those forced to leave their homes due to floods, heat waves, or drought.<\/span><\/p>\n
Our response, he continues, must be comprehensive, involving not only ecological but also \u201csocial, economic, and political\u201d action.<\/span><\/p>\n
